VACANCY DECONTROL CAN LEAD TO HOMELESSNESS
"HUD projects a 33 percent increase in homelessness among adults 62 and older. This was unheard of in the past. In HUD data
for San Diego County in 2009, individuals 51 and older occupied 28 percent of local emergency shelters
and occupied 25 percent of all transitional housing. "
"The vacancy decontrol measure essentially sentences more of our seniors, veterans and lower-income families to homelessness,
hunger and poverty. This measure is 100% the wrong way to ensure security for these folks."
LEADS TO VIOLATIONS OF STATE HOUSING PLAN LAW
"Each governing body (City Council or Board of Supervisors) of a local
government in California
is required to adopt a comprehensive, long-term
general plan for the physical development of the city, city and county,
or county. " [
